Time to brush out the cobwebs…

March 24, 2021

We are opening our doors again very soon!

In July 2020 we blogged ‘Visitors are returning to Dartmoor…’ Little did we know what was to follow! They came, lock-down, they went; they came, lock-down, they went again!

The Old Dairy Dunsford has stood empty since a brief opening at Christmas. The daffodils along the driveway and the wild daffodils in the woods have flowered, with no one to see them, and are gradually fading. The river level is falling after all the winter rain and the stepping-stones are traversable again. More and more wild birds are returning to the garden for food and to nest. Still no guests!

BUT…now, at last, we are preparing for guests again. From 12 April (we hope)! Bookings are rolling in. We are brushing out the cobwebs and Spring cleaning The Old Dairy. Logs are chopped and piled for the log-burner. Jars of this year’s Seville Orange Marmalade are ready and waiting. There is bread to bake and eggs to be collected from the farm.

From 12 April self-contained accommodation can open and we can share a welcome G&T in the garden, according to the rule of 6 or two households for social contact. From that date all retail will be open and outdoor hospitality will be available.

From 17 May indoor hospitality is permitted and so all the local pubs and restaurants will be up and running, including indoor entertainment and attractions.

From 21 June, subject to review, all restrictions will be lifted. FINGERS CROSSED!

We look forward to welcoming friends old and new to The Old Dairy Dunsford at last!
